I really want to blog. I do. But so often, it just doesn't happen. However, I will share this with my awesome writing class (hi there!), so I guess I can try again.
It won't be just writing anymore. It'll be about other things too, such as my jobs (student, lab rat, ski instructor) or my new and existing obsessions. (Such as makeup, nail polish, and other, non-girly things.) I can try to review things too, but hey, it all depends.
I'll admit right now that I probably won't keep up with this. I can try though, there's never any harm in that.
So welcome.

Writing and Sweden
I love to write. It's one of my favourite past-times, but I find it hard to force myself to sit down and type out a story. I have so many ideas I think have the potential to be great. I need to follow the Butt In Chair, Hands On Keyboard philosophy. Honestly, the hardest part is starting. I don't mean just starting a story, but forcing myself to begin writing each day. I keep hoping blogs will help, but they usually don't. It really is about motivation and willpower.
In an unrelated note, I really love Sweden. Well, the Nordic countries in general, but Sweden and Denmark just seem like such fantastic places. Sweden is rated one of the happiest nations, and they have so many benefits. In Sweden, you won't lose your house if someone in your family gets sick or hurt. In America, I'm getting more and more disgusted by the way people praise our country and Democracy, yet are unwilling to do anything to help it. Democracy allows people to think only of themselves and not of the country. No one would vote for a tax increase, or for a cut in welfare spending, though we obviously need it very much. No one would vote for a cut in military spending, at the fear of being labeled anti-American. I even recently read an article about a group of people who say the International Baccalaureate program, which promotes thinking on a world-wide level, is unAmerican because it has too many European ideals. Well, I for one am supportive of this ideals.
Now to combine the two paragraphs above. I want to move to Sweden, or a Nordic country, sometime soon. Maybe right after college, maybe after grad school, we'll see how it goes. To do that, I'll need money. I can't have a conventional job at the moment, because I need to use my time to get really nice scholarships so I won't need a job. I will need money to move though, especially since I plan on importing my car. Not only am I ridiculously attached to it, but it might even be cheaper to import it rather than buy a new one there. Basically, I need money. What can I do? Well, I can write. I can get paid to write. On my own time, at my own discretion. There's a website that provides "assignments" that you can claim and submit work to. If they end up using your work, you can be paid quite well. Hopefully it will all work out, and I'll have the motivation to keep writing.
Yeah, this blog as become more of a diary than anything, because I don't have any followers. I don't censor myself, nor do I try to write in the utmost perfect style. Yes, my paragraph above is kind of hard to read, and slightly rambling. But hey, it's for myself. Mostly all I need is practice.
So thanks, computer screen, for patiently listening to me.

I started feeling bad for neglecting this blog
Though, it's not as if I have followers or something. Sadly enough.
I don't really have much to talk about. I sorta figured out some more plot twists that would make the story I'm working on make more sense. I'm doing pretty awesome physics stuff at UCLA, and I feel as if I am actually being rather helpful. So that's nice.
Along that same line, we have a safety inspection on Thursday, so I get to be doing a bunch of grunt work that no one else wants to. That's okay though, it's what I'm for, after all. Though I can't say much about the work itself, I'll say our experiments involve rats and are pretty awesome.
Physicists always find ways to surprise me. I was expecting lots of equations with some grunt work and others helping out with everything not physics related, but instead was pleasantly surprised. They do everything themselves. They're not just physicists; they're programmers, engineers, chemists, biologists, veterinarians, surgeons, and basically everything else they need to be. Pretty awesome.
My car is really coming along. We put a new grill on it and it's freaking beautiful. Amazing. A new grill pretty much instantly improved it like 100 times.
Right now, we're watching an amazing Russian version of Treasure Island. It's a fantastic mix of cartoon and real life, music and action, and is just generally hilarious. I'd totally recommend it. In general, I'm a huge fan of Russian cartoons, because they are some of the most clever, funny, and well made, especially the old ones. Everyone has seen Nu Pogodi, it's our version of Tom and Jerry. So funny.
Anyway, I think that about sums up what I've been up to lately. Have a great night.
P.S. If taking a physics class, don't skip classes. Take 1A before 1B, people.

Another blog?
Why do I get myself into these things? I already know I can't update a private blog, why even attempt a public blog?
We shall see.
I suppose for now I can begin with a short introduction. Yeah, let's stick with that.
Hello, there. My name is Nika. Not Ni-kuh. Nee-kah. As in, Veronika. Except it's pronounced Veh-rah-nee-kah. So let's just stick with Nika, mkay?
I am sixteen at the moment, will be seventeen in June. I have wicked issues with growing up, but only with years. I'm plenty grown up mentally. I suppose I'll just cross that bridge when I get there. For now, I'll enjoy being seventeen soon.
I love photography and writing, as well as music, although I only participate in the first two. I suppose I'll post some of my work and critiques of others here. Oh, I also love cooking. And skiing and snowboarding. You get the idea. You'll hopefully learn more about me, if you want to, as this progresses.
Anyway, I'm a terrible procrastinator so I suppose I should go do my homework now. Thanks for sticking it out even this far.
